Maine Art Hill - Spring Exhibit
The “Abstract” exhibition at Maine Art Hill took place in May, but I’m very happy that Maine Art Hill has retained a collection of paintings to show throughout the season in the adjacent hotel exhibit space at The Grand Hotel in downtown Kennebunk, ME. If you are in the area I hope you will stop in to view them.

Teaching Painting at G.B.C.C.
I look forward to teaching Watercolor painting at Great Bay Community College this coming fall semester. I had a wonderful group of young students eager to learn about painting last semester, and know the new group of students will have fun working with watercolor too. Great Bay offers local arts programs, including an associates degree in Fine Art, and recently added a culinary arts program too!

Inside Yarmouth Arts: Anita Loomis
For her Yarmouth Maine exhibition, artist Anita Loomis delved into landscape paintings with an eye toward abstraction, form, color, and line. Tomorrowland explores aspects of our natural surroundings and considers the possible effects of climate change on plants, animals, and terrain. Loomis notes that one of her goals for the series was to explore possible positive aspects of climate change by looking for potentially beneficial evolutionary changes. Several works in this show were created especially for this exhibit and were inspired by features of nearby Royal River Park. The show was on view in April 2024. Tomorrowland
Curiosity and imagination drive the development of paintings in this series of landscapes. My naturally hopeful and curious nature pivots to imagine what robust new life forms might emerge in defensive response to our environmental impacts. Most recent work simultaneously considers the prehistoric and futuristic landscapes along with humanity's relationship to time and place. What will our world look and feel like in the future?

Growing Couples
Painting allows me to envision what could be. With the new pieces in the Couples series, I explore the role of love in our many kinds of relationships and connections. How do we connect and share our lives with others? Intentionally lacking facial features, these works share aspects of life that any of us might experience. Can you see yourself in the paintings?

Landscapes of a Different Color
Shown above is detail from a recent painting commission, a 36”x48” oil on linen landscape. I do enjoy creating moody and ethereal vistas from imagination. This piece is included here to demonstrate painting versatility, and to mention that I do work on commission from time to time. I also intend to invest more time developing similar works.
